![]() The most significant improvement of the new version is the doubling of the effective bandwidth to 17.28 Gbit/s in High Bit Rate 2 (HBR2) mode, which allows increased resolutions, higher refresh rates, and greater color depth. 1.2 ĭisplayPort version 1.2 was approved on 22 December 2009. The DisplayPort 1.1a specification can be downloaded for free from the VESA website. It also includes HDCP in addition to DisplayPort Content Protection (DPCP). DisplayPort 1.1 allows devices to implement alternative link layers such as fiber optic, allowing a much longer reach between source and display without signal degradation, although alternative implementations are not standardized. DisplayPort cables up to 2 meters in length are required to support the full 10.8 Gbit/s bandwidth. ĭisplayPort 1.0–1.1a allow a maximum bandwidth of 10.8 Gbit/s (8.64 Gbit/s data rate) over a standard 4-lane main link. ![]() Version 1.1a was ratified on 2 April 2007. The first version, 1.0, was approved by VESA on. the one i got with the monitor works fine.I picked another up from maplins, it turned out to be shit, couldn't do above 60hz on my 75hz none freesync panels, There does seem to be a lot of varients with DP cables. Yeah one of mine is a star tech.I'm not using that one for the freesync though. I really hope it's the cable, since I'd rather change cable than monitor or video card. I'll probably check it out and return it if doesn't work The only one I could find both on amazon and on the VESA list is from StarTech, but it still has some negative reviews. The point is that I cannot be 100% sure if they're actually good or they have a powered 20th pin, since most amazon reviews are conflicting. The VESA compatible list is rather short, can you recommend me a cable that doesn't have a powered 20 pin?ĭP cables themselves don't have any revisions I'll try a different port and then reinstall the drivers, if the issue persists I'll probably get another cable. It actually turns back on, only slower (complete power cycle rather than simple return from sleep) and at a normal UHD 60Hz resolution. Most likely your problem is a dodgy cable id say. In desktop mode its easy to turn Freesync off anyway. Have you tried using a different port on your card, could be a bad connection?įlickering is an issue with Freesync in the latest drivers, its an issue that has been a problem on and off through various driver releases over the last 12 s something you learn to live with. I have 3 AOC monitors (one freesync) connected to my fury card via display port, monitor 3 my right hand panel often has this same problem, where it just doesn't come on or comes on at a low resolution, and the error report is generated in the AMD software.Normally just flicking the power switch on and off solves it though. If anyone has any experience with displayport cables, could he/she recommend me a cable that surely hasn't a powered 20th pin and should work with my setup? Assuming that the issue is the cable, obviously. I've already done some research about it but I found no definitive answer. As soon as I'm coming back where the PC is, I'm also going to try reinstalling or downgrading the drivers (currently using 17.12.2). The cable is 1.5m or 2m, not longer than that. As I said, I'm using the Bizlink cable included with the monitor, no issues with the GTX 670 but I thought it could be because it's older and may have some different internal behaviour. Moreover the card instantly crashes if I try to OC the memory (and won't even hit 1400 MHz with 1.1V), but this could just be bad luck (if ASIC quality even means anything, it only hits 69.9%). Maybe it's freesync related and thus a monitor issue? I've also seen some random, instantaneous flickering during normal operation (and even some artifacts on firestrike, but that could be because of undervolting) and I also have doubts about the used card, but it came practically in perfect conditions and the seller assured me he had no problems he was using a freesync display and DP, just asked. ![]() Then I've discovered the "displayport 20 pin debate" and started doubting it could be the case, but there were no issues with the older GTX 670. I should specify that I currently have no access to my main PC until the end of the holidays, so I'm just asking for advices now and then I'll proceed to test some more. The system is the one on my profile. Your display might not support the requested resolution or there may be an issue with the cable connecting the display to your computer The system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate on your DisplayPort display.
